Apex Trader Funding Rules: EOD and Intraday Evaluations Explained

Apex sells two kinds of evaluation: one with an end-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown and one with an intraday trailing drawdown. The targets are the same; how the floor moves is not, and that difference decides which one suits your trading. All numbers below come from the Apex help center.

Source: Apex help center, articles EOD Evaluations, EOD Drawdown Explained, Intraday Trailing Drawdown Evaluations, Intraday Trailing Drawdown Explained and 50% Consistency Requirement, verified Oct 23, 2026. This page covers the current EOD and Intraday products, not Legacy accounts. If anything differs from the help center, the help center wins.

Both evaluations have no minimum number of trading days, no consistency rule and no scaling. You can pass in one day. After passing you have 7 calendar days to activate the Performance Account (PA). The trading day resets at 6:00 PM ET.

EOD or intraday drawdown: the one choice that matters

EOD evaluation

The threshold is recalculated once a day at 4:59:59 PM ET from your closing balance, always trailing the highest close, and then enforced in real time during the next session. If your balance touches it at any moment, positions are liquidated and the evaluation fails. Separately, the Daily Loss Limit pauses you for the rest of the session without failing the account.

Intraday evaluation

The threshold follows your peak balance in real time, including unrealized profit. An open trade that runs $900 into profit lifts the floor by $900 immediately, even if you close the trade at a smaller gain. There is no Daily Loss Limit.

Same day, two results (50K account)

You start at $50,000. A trade runs to +$1,500 open profit, then you exit at +$300. Balance $50,300.

  • Intraday: the peak was $51,500, so your floor is now $49,500. Your room is $800.
  • EOD: the day closes at $50,300, so tomorrow's floor is $48,300. Your room is $2,000.

Decision: if you let winners run and often give back open profit, the EOD evaluation is far more forgiving. Intraday suits traders who take profits quickly and rarely let a trade come back. Our trailing drawdown guide walks through more cases, and the drawdown calculator lets you test your own days under both models.

When the drawdown stops trailing

  • Performance Accounts: the threshold stops at starting balance + $100. On a 50K PA that is $50,100, reached once your highest balance hits $52,100.
  • Rithmic and WealthCharts evaluations: the threshold stops at the profit target balance, $53,000 on a 50K.
  • Tradovate evaluations: the drawdown keeps trailing your peak with no stop.

Decision: the platform you run the evaluation on changes the rule. On Tradovate, every new high keeps lifting the floor right up to your target.

The 50% consistency rule on Performance Accounts

There is no consistency rule in the evaluation, but before a payout on a PA your largest profitable day must be less than 50% of your net profit since the last payout (or since the account opened). Being above 50% does not fail the account; the payout button simply stays unavailable. Losing days count: Apex's own example is $1,000 on day one and −$200 on day two, which is $1,000 ÷ $800 = 125%.

Apex's quick formula: highest profit day ÷ 0.5 = the net profit you need. A $1,500 best day means you need $3,000. Apex's text says the ratio must be below 50%, while its worked example counts exactly 50% as met, so leave yourself a small buffer above that number.

How to keep these rules in your journal

In the MyTradeEdge journal you can add your Apex evaluation or PA as a prop firm account with its daily loss limit, maximum drawdown and profit target. The Apex template fills in starting values, but they may be older than Apex's current numbers, so check them against the table above and edit them. The journal works on your logged trades and closing balances: it does not see the intraday peak of an open trade or check the 50% payout rule, so use the calculator for those.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Apex 50K evaluation rules?

On the EOD evaluation: $3,000 profit target, $2,000 end-of-day drawdown, $1,000 daily loss limit, 6 contracts maximum and 30 days to pass. The intraday evaluation has the same target, drawdown and contract limits, but no daily loss limit. Both as listed in the Apex help center on Oct 23, 2026.

When does the Apex trailing drawdown stop trailing?

In a Performance Account it stops at starting balance plus $100 ($50,100 on a 50K). In Rithmic and WealthCharts evaluations it stops at the profit target balance ($53,000 on a 50K). In Tradovate evaluations it keeps trailing the peak with no stop.

Does Apex have a consistency rule?

Not in the evaluations. In Performance Accounts, your largest profitable day must be less than 50% of net profit since your last payout before you can request a payout. Being above 50% does not fail the account; it only delays the payout.

Does hitting the daily loss limit fail an Apex evaluation?

No. On the EOD evaluation, reaching the daily loss limit pauses trading for the rest of the session and the account stays active. Touching the EOD drawdown threshold is what fails it.
